Welding the Famous Monuments of New York City

Welding the Famous Monuments of New York City

Can you imagine New York City without any monuments? This city, perhaps one of the most influential and historically significant cities in our country would not be the same if Lady Liberty were not in the harbor. The magnificent Empire State Building, built as a testament to prosperity during the Depression or even the current monument being built at Ground Zero are all testaments to the greatness of the city and our country. However, none of these monuments could be possible without the work of a welder.

Welding is Holding Everything Together

Welding, the binding of metal by using hot liquid metal to connect the pieces, is the mainstay of all these monuments. The Statute of Liberty stands tall because she is welded securely together and to her base. The Empire State Building stands tall in the skyline because its metal skeleton holds it there proudly. These, and all the other monuments, were constructed by welders at least in the beginning.

Welding is a critical part to all construction. Bridges, buildings and even roads cannot be constructed without the reinforcement of steel within their structure. Cars, machinery and even trains must all first be welded together before being used.

Welding is the backbone to our modern society, even if it is a job that is often overlooked.

How Welders Get Started

Welders require special training. They must learn about the different metals or alloys and what the appropriate method is for binding them. New York welding programs help the welders of tomorrow get their starts and learn the first steps towards welding. New York welding schools aren't just for the new guys though, seasoned welders can learn something new from welding programs. For example, someone has to train the specialists that do fantastic feats such as weld underwater. All welders must be trained in blueprint reading, fabricating and have the knowledge to build something that will last. If you're looking for quality New York welding training then you want to make sure the program involves these key aspects.

Welding the Way Into the Future

The new Trade Center Memorial being created at Ground Zero is another testament to the welding trade. This monument, a dedication to the many lives lost and to our fight against those who wish to destroy us, is being carefully and meticulously constructed by welders. For years to come this place will serve as a reminder, a memorial to the American people of what transpired that fateful day. Thanks to the welders that took the time to skillfully construct it, those Americans that lost their lives that day will never be forgotten.
